This morning I read this brief interview with science fiction writer and internet activist Cory Doctorow, which focuses on advice for writing. Most of it is really straight forward and practical, but I especially like what he says at the end of the interview.
“Write even when you feel like it’s shit. You can’t tell what’s good and what’s bad while you’re writing it. Don’t ever rewrite until the whole thing is done. Once you start thinking about what you’re writing, you lose the ability to stop writing it.”
The main point Doctorow makes is to write everyday, even if it is only 75 words. Some writing is always better than none. Good advice!
